01What it becomes
Components and browser helpers; your own JavaScript runs in the browser as before. Toolbox lets Bubble apps run JavaScript. The JavaScript you wrote in “Run javascript” runs in the browser in the generated app, with the same parameters. The Expression, JavaScript to Bubble and List of numbers elements become components that publish the same values.
No extra npm package: the generated code uses React, Next.js and browser APIs only.
02What converts
- Run javascript (with param1–5 and the list parameters), synchronous and asynchronous
- Expression and JavaScript to Bubble elements, with their published values and events
- List of numbers element
03Not converted yet
- List Item Expression’s “Set data source” action.
- Server script: the generated app never runs code from the export on the server. Each use is listed in your report to port into a server action.
- Run javascript inside a backend workflow (there is no browser there): listed in your report to port by hand.
Where your app uses one of these, the generated code keeps a marked placeholder in the right place and your report lists it, so it can be finished with the assistant or by any developer. The rest of the plugin works as described above.
04About this plugin
Toolbox is made by Not Quite Unicorns (mixed (elements + client & server actions)). Bubble’s plugin marketplace counts 893,891 installs (a cumulative counter). See its page on the Bubble marketplace.
Questions
- Does the Toolbox plugin work outside Bubble?
- Not as it is: Bubble plugins only run inside Bubble. In a Next.js app it is replaced by generated code — Components and browser helpers; your own JavaScript runs in the browser as before.
- Will my Toolbox settings carry over?
- Mostly. deBub converts 9 of the plugin’s 10 parts from your .bubble export; anything else is marked in the code and listed in your report. Secret keys are added as environment variables.
