Bubble’s price changes and AI credits (October 2026): what they mean for your app

In October 2026 Bubble launched Agent 2 with AI credits, a free Bubble MCP beta, and a higher price for the web-only Starter plan. Here’s exactly what changed, from Bubble’s own announcements, and what it means in practice.

The short version

  • From 20 October 2026 the web-only Starter plan costs $39/month billed monthly (was $32) or $32/month billed annually (was $29). Existing subscribers move at their next renewal; no other plan’s price changes.
  • Since 6 October, building with Bubble’s AI Agent uses AI credits: 1,000 a month on Starter, 2,000 on Growth, 4,000 on Team. Credits belong to each app and don’t roll over.
  • The visual editor stays free to use, and the Bubble MCP — for Claude Code, Codex and similar tools — is free while in beta.

01What changed, and when

Bubble announced the changes on 6 October 2026 in its Agent 2 launch post and the October community update:

Timeline of Bubble’s October 2026 changes
DateChange
6 Oct 2026Agent 2 is out of beta for all apps. Building or editing with the Agent now uses AI credits. The Bubble MCP launches in beta.
6–31 Oct 2026Apps that existed on 6 October get double their plan’s credit allowance (not apps created later, new accounts, trials, or apps changing plans in October).
Before 20 Oct 2026Buying an annual web Starter plan keeps the current $29/month annual rate for a year.
20 Oct 2026Web-only Starter rises to $39/month (monthly billing) or $32/month (annual billing). Existing Starter Web subscribers and trials move at their next renewal.
1 Nov 2026Standard credit allowances apply.

According to the community update, no other plan’s pricing is affected. Workload units — the meter for what your live app does — are unchanged.

02The Starter price change in numbers

The change applies to the web-only Starter plan. Previous prices are from Bubble’s pricing documentation; new prices from the launch post.

Web-only Starter plan, before and after 20 October 2026
BillingBeforeFrom 20 Oct 2026Difference
Monthly$32/month ($384/year)$39/month ($468/year)+$7/month (≈ +22%)
Annual$29/month ($348/year)$32/month ($384/year)+$3/month (≈ +10%)

Remember that a Bubble plan is per app: each live app has its own plan, so the change applies once per app you keep on web Starter. The mobile and web + mobile tracks, Growth and Team are not part of this change.

03How AI credits work

AI credits pay for Bubble’s AI Agent. The details, from the launch post and Bubble’s manual page on AI credits:

Monthly AI credit allowance per app
PlanCredits per month
Free500
Starter1,000
Growth2,000
Team4,000
Agency1,000
EnterpriseVaries
  • Credits belong to an app, not to you. Everyone working on the app shares its balance; credits can’t be moved or pooled across apps.
  • The included allowance refreshes on the 1st of each month and doesn’t roll over. Credits you buy last six months; the ones that expire soonest are used first.
  • There’s no fixed price per message. Credits are calculated after a request runs, so a short prompt that touches many parts of the app can cost more than a long one.
  • What uses credits: building and iterating with the Agent, generating images, generating test data.
  • What doesn’t: generating a new app (including its planning session), editing in the visual editor, running your live app (that’s workload), and the Bubble MCP.
  • At zero there’s no automatic charge or upgrade. The Agent stops, keeps the work it finished, and waits until you buy credits, upgrade, or the allowance refreshes. On the Free plan you have to upgrade to Starter to buy more.

04The Bubble MCP

The Bubble MCP lets you connect your own AI tool — Claude, Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT in developer mode, VS Code with GitHub Copilot — to build and edit your Bubble app. It’s free while in beta and doesn’t use AI credits; your AI provider bills its own usage. Cursor isn’t supported yet.

It has limits worth knowing: it works only with the development database (it can’t read or write live data), and it can’t deploy, merge branches or read logs. What it builds is still a Bubble app — elements, workflows and data types inside Bubble.

05What it means for your app

You build by hand in the editor

Only the price matters to you, and only if you’re on web Starter. If you pay monthly and plan to stay, buying the annual plan before 20 October keeps $29/month for a year ($348) instead of $39/month at the next renewal ($468 a year).

You build with the Agent

Budget credits per app. October’s double allowance for existing apps ends on 31 October, so a month of heavy use in October isn’t a good guide to November. Bubble’s manual notes that the cost of a request depends on how much work it does behind the scenes — keep an eye on the balance before large changes.

You use Claude Code, Codex or another AI tool

The MCP is free during the beta and doesn’t touch your credits; your AI subscription does the billing. “Free while in beta” is Bubble’s wording, so check its MCP page for what applies after the beta.

You run several apps

Each app has its own plan and its own credit balance, so both the price change and the credit allowance multiply by the number of apps.

Questions

How much is Bubble’s Starter plan after 20 October 2026?
The web-only Starter plan is $39 per month billed monthly, or $32 per month billed annually. Before the change it was $32 monthly or $29 per month annually. Existing subscribers move to the new price at their next renewal.
Do other Bubble plans get more expensive?
No. Bubble’s October 2026 community update says no other plan’s pricing is affected; only the web-only Starter plan changes.
How many AI credits do I get on Bubble?
Per app and per month: 500 on Free, 1,000 on Starter, 2,000 on Growth, 4,000 on Team and 1,000 on Agency; Enterprise varies. Apps that existed on 6 October 2026 get double through 31 October 2026.
Do AI credits roll over?
Included credits don’t: they refresh on the 1st of each month. Credits you buy roll over until they expire, six months after purchase.
Does editing in the Bubble editor use AI credits?
No. Editing in the visual editor, generating a new app, running your live app and using the Bubble MCP don’t use AI credits. Building or iterating with the Agent, generating images and generating test data do.
Can I keep the old Starter price?
Bubble says buying an annual web Starter plan before 20 October 2026 keeps the current annual rate of $29 per month for a year.
